The role and powers of the institutions of French Polynesia are defined by the Organic Law as follows:
Executive power is exercised by the President of French Polynesia, who heads the government.
Deliberative power rests with the Assembly of French Polynesia.
Consultative power is exercised by the Economic, Social, Environmental and Cultural Council.
